What If I’m a Rideshare Driver?
When driving with rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, your insurance coverage is contingent on where you are in the journey. If you’re not yet on your way to pick up a passenger, or have dropped a passenger off and are waiting for another to request your services, you’re covered by your personal insurance.
But as soon as you turn the rideshare app on to start looking for a passenger ride request to accept, your rideshare provider insurance kicks in and provides you with at least $50,000 in physical injury or death liability coverage and $25,000 for property damage.
Once the rideshare driver accepts a ride request, the rideshare company provided insurance coverage increases to $1 million. If you collide with someone else while transporting a passenger—or while on your way to pick up a fare—this policy covers damage done to other people and their property.
